2 files contacts and company which are related. From the contact listing I want to see the listing of the related companies.

I have tried setting up a layout which has the contact ID in then I have used copy all records and pasted it in to the find layout of the company. But I can't get this to find anything (I have also tried this with Company Name and company ID).

Can anyone help me and tell me why this isn't working?

Thanks

Simon

To be related, each contact record must have a companyID field equal to the companyID field in the company file. You should be able to put the companyName field (from the company file) right on the layout of the contact record and it should display the name of the related company. You should then be able to see all the related companies in contact list view or table view.

Yes I have this already - however you can't view all the other contacts that work for that company.

What I want is to be able to go to the list of companies, relating to all the contacts in the list, and then be able to scroll through the form format for all where I can see all the other people at that company aswell as more of the company details which aren't able to view on the contacts list due to size restrictions

Would some pictures help to illustrate?

Thanks

In contacts Table View (sorted by company) you could view all other contacts for that company.

In the company layout, you would have a portal to view all contacts.

If you needed to have a contacts portal in the contact layout, then you would need a self-join relationship. I've tested this in version 7 and it works!
