5.5 Unlimited Email Problem

Featured Replies

  • Newbies

Hi,

I have Unlimited 5.5 and serve about 30 databases for the web. Just recently for no reason I can determine the ability to send email has suddenly stopped. This is effecting about 6 of our database web solutions and I have people on our campus who depend on this email to notify them that a new record is created.

Our networks manager has noted that full details of the trace show

that a normal TCP connection is established, just as in the working case -

but that the FM machine just closes the connection.

It was established that smtp is indeed working on the machine as email can be sent from it other than through Filemaker.

Any suggestions you might offer would be appreciated.

Thanks,

What mail server are you using?

The first thing I would do would be to change the smtp server line in one of the forms to test it:

e.g,

<input type="hidden" name="-MailHost" value="SMTP.Company.COM">

or

<input type="hidden" name="-MailHost" value="202.37.101.1">

One may work better than the other. You could also try to change the mailhost setting to the smtp server for the provider of your network - it may be a relaying error
