How can I make two databases see same field.

I have two database which I would like to work hand in hand. I got one (Database A) that will do the calculation of a summary and I would like the other database (Database : to get updated as well once the total summary has been updated. When I try to make a relationship between the two fields I get a dialog stating that

Very hard to say without seeing the sctructure of the files or the purpose of them. But maybe you can make a relationship between two other meaningful fields of the two files and view the calculated field from A that way?

Make the calculation field in B be based on the same fields that the calculation in A is based on. Or simply put the field from A on the layout in B.
