Hammerton Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 I would like to be able to add fields to a database with a script. I am trying to track research projects. When I add a new project, I have to a add a field specifying whether that study is active/inactive, it's human subject approval number, a date for when a participant was tested etc. I was hoping to use scriptmaker to open define fields, add new fields based on the new study's nick name e.g., [nickname]_irbnum. There're about 8 new fields for each new study, so automatizing would be great. Also, this method would assure a uniformity in field names across different studies. Any and all help kindly appreciated, as always.
MoonShadow Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 You can't create fields with scriptmaker. I suggest you instead just add a StudyNumber field. Keep all studies in the same file and just designate which study number they represent.
RalphL Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 You can not define fields by script. Are you creating a new datbase for each project? If so you can make a template file and make copies of it. Could this be one database with a record for each project and related files to record details?
