Creating a New Field

Featured Replies

I would like to be able to add fields to a database with a script.

I am trying to track research projects. When I add a new project, I have to a add a field specifying whether that study is active/inactive, it's human subject approval number, a date for when a participant was tested etc. I was hoping to use scriptmaker to open define fields, add new fields based on the new study's nick name e.g., [nickname]_irbnum. There're about 8 new fields for each new study, so automatizing would be great. Also, this method would assure a uniformity in field names across different studies.

Any and all help kindly appreciated, as always.

You can't create fields with scriptmaker. I suggest you instead just add a StudyNumber field. Keep all studies in the same file and just designate which study number they represent.

You can not define fields by script.

Are you creating a new datbase for each project? If so you can make a template file and make copies of it.

Could this be one database with a record for each project and related files to record details?
