Jarvis Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 I store PDF file references in containers and I would like to have the PDF file open automatically without having to double click the container field itself. Is there a way to do this? Thanks, Jarvis
dkemme Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I don't know how but I know it has been discussed previously, I would search this forum, go back several months to catch all the discussion.s
Barbecue Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Use the Go to Field script step. Check the box that says Select/Perform or possibly Activate. That should use the default application for the file type to launch the file. In Windows, this only works if you insert a link to the file, not if you insert the file itself. BUT, if you insert the file as an Object, it does work. Go figure. I don't know if the same restriction applies under Mac OS X, I would hope not. Under Mac OS, you also have the option of using Applescript, which would let you do all sorts of interesting things with the file.
