I have a strange situation ... I have a Main Menu which is based upon my Preferences table. It contains only one record.

The Main Menu display has NO FIELDS - but only buttons. If the User accidently clicks directly onto the layout (form) where there aren't any buttons, the system goes into 'hour glass' searching!!?? And it searches for a long time!!! Displaying the Status area, it is in Browse mode and unsorted and only one record.

It drives me totally nuts. I made sure the layout is based upon Preferences base table. Preferences has many relationships but why does it search if no fields are on the layout? Ideas appreciated ...

Well, I was incorrect and quite embarrassed ...

I had worked all night Sunday night ... and worked straight through until 10:30 last night. And I had, ummm, placed a portal to the right out of view on the Main Menu to use to copy/paste into smaller windows (based upon buttons placed on Main Menu).

And I forgot to delete it again - because I couldn't see it, even when in layout mode.

I KNEW it acted like there were related (or unrelated) fields ... the way it was searching ... but I saw no fields. Me bad, very bad.

I've found 'Select all' and zoom out quite handy for finding rubbish If only I could remember to use it!.
