I want to be able to select a printer for a given report within a script and it allways prints via that specific printer without defaulting back to default printer.

Very frustrating that the printer controls are very limited

you must configure the printer you will use in the script and select "perform without dialog" option. the script step, you should use, "print". Filemaker pro 7, use these default settings.

The script is as below;

Print [ Pages: 1 to 1; Orientation: Portrait; Paper size: 8,26" x 11,69" ]

[ Restore; No dialog ]

only works on the first run of the script and then defaults back to default printer when the script is run again!

Remove the No dialog option. I believe this has been reported several times to be a bug.

A nifty plugin is available from FMWebschool (FM vs. 5 - 7, Windows only) which eliminates these problems completely. It allows you to change printers within FM scripts on the fly and doesn't affect the Windows default printer settings.
