February 13, 200520 yr I have to design a database that will hold a maximum of 500 records but will be graphics and video intensive, ie one seven minute Quicktime video clip per record and seven normal size photographs per record. The system will be designed on Apple for implementation on PC's. Can anyone give me an idea of the memory and processor configuration that would be required on the PC's to ensure full responsiveness in this system Chris
February 13, 200520 yr 256 MB of RAM is considered now the realistic minimum for an XP system (although I've actually seen XP run on 64 MB). I routinely recommend 1 GB for my clients (because who knows how much the next version of Windows (code-named "Longhorne") will require. Minimum processor requirement is now about 2 GHz, with most new PC's having more.
