Auto-Complete in fields

Featured Replies

Hello, im using filemaker pro 7, and I just want to know is there anyway I can set the field to auto-complete like when you use Internet explorer and if you have been to a site and if you press the letter it will look up the closes match of sites that you have been. So in this case I want the field to look up related records saved previously.

I realise that you can do that by drop down menu but I want it to show with out the drop down menu. EG. if in the record field "product" contain "filemaker". Next time when you entering data for the field "product" simply if you type "f" the word will display with some like this this "filemaker" the 'ilemaker" will be highlighted. Then if you press "i" it will look up to the closest match in this case it is still filemaker.

Is this possible to do with filemaker. Because previously I use MS Access it just does it automatically but with filemaker it doesnt.

Possible, with a plug-in.

I know Ray (aka Cobaltsky) www.nightwing.com.au/filemaker teamed up with New Milennium www.nmci.com and their Menu Magic to offer a nice solution for this that acted in the way you described.

Unfortunately, not native to FileMaker.

I built an approximation sample in FM7. It is clunky in that it uses a script loop with a finite pause length and the cursor changes every time the loop pauses or continues.
