Baylah Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Hi All, I know many of you are aware of the "Clairvoyance" scipt from the Sciptology book as I have seen reference to it here before. IN one of my databases that was originally developed in FMP 6 I used Clairvoyance and loved it. I am in the process of developing a new DB in version 7 and no matter how hard I try I cannot seem to make it work. Everything seems to be identical to what I did in the other application, but it just doesn;t work. I don;t get the parsed name results in the portal, and even though I do get a NAME MATCH in the portal, if I click (the script is apprpriate) on it, it will not paste it (set field) into the target field. I am so frustrated right now! Has anyone had any experience similar or give any advice to a trap I might be missing. Like I said....Everything seems to be identical to the origianl use. I have even gone so far as to make sure that I am using the same field names, relationship names, etc...I just can;t figure out what I am missing. I am tempted to try developing this in 6 and then converting it! Thanks in advance, Steve
Baylah Posted March 3, 2005 Author Posted March 3, 2005 Just an afterthought......Does anyone know why FileMaker has never developed TYPE AS YOU GO technology? It would be so useful, if a field could be defined as TAYG. Could you imagine how much cleaner we could keep data input......I have asked FileMAker directly, but they are reluctant to answer. I can;t imagine that it can't be done. Steve
Reed Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Can you post your file here? I have made several portals that are filtered this way in v7, and there are a few different ways to do it. If you post the file, I could take a look to see if something's missing. Dana
Baylah Posted March 3, 2005 Author Posted March 3, 2005 Hey Reed, You beat me to it. But I found the problem and was just about to re-post. I don;t want to admit it to the world, but I had a syntax error in something I thought I had checked a hundred times. UGH, how frustrating was that. Steve
