(Server 5.5) Close one database using shell script

Featured Replies

Is is possible to close just a single database that is being served using FM Server 5.5 using a shell script?

We've managed to use shell scripts to close and stop the whole FileMaker Server 5.5 but I wanted to know if there was a way just to close a particular database and not the whole server?

Thanks.

I'm wondering why you would want to close hosted files that way. Why not use the Server Admin plugin? You have a lot more granular control of the server - AND it is cross platform.

I don't think this is possible in 5.5, 7 has more shell'g available though.

Yes, it IS possible to close just one file in 5.5 with the Server Admin plugin. I have been doing it for many years on both Mac and Windows servers. You can even close a whole set of solution files if the solution files are divided by different folders.

No prob with plugin, but I don't think you can from a shell command/script.

How about a shell script that calls an Apple script? This should work under 5.5

I'd appreciate it if you'd let us in on the shell script that closes the FM 5.5 Server. My problem is that if the fm server ever hangs or crashes I have to reboot b/c I don't know how to kill it! Thanks,

JR Bernal

FMServer 5.5 cannot be AppleScripted on OSX.
