Hi,

Small network (4 Mac OS X + 1 PC Win XP)

Files served through FileMaker server 7 (latest update) on Mac OS X 10.3.8, Permissions are correct.

On client when chosing Open remote in the left pane I see the server's name and IP adress. No files appear in the right pane when I click on this server.

As a test I served some files with a standard FileMaker 7 on a different computer and they show up fine on the other machines.

Any ideas.

TIA,

Luc

Are you sure permissions are correct, this is usually the cause. What does the server log say?

Welcome to the Forums.

You should also check to make sure that the files are set to be visible when hosted.

Doug,

Permissions are correct. Log says files opened.

Stanley,

Files are set to be visable.

I did install this solution before in simular situantions without any problem.

I'm stumped.

In SystemPreferences>Sharing>Firewall, click the New button and enter port 5003. Allow traffic through this port, make sure the host machine has a static IP address, and you should have no further trouble.

OK. Problem solved.

Rather silly.

A co-worker opened the files in FileMaker Pro for a last check on a machine where FM server was running. So sharing got turned off.

Where earlier versions of FM server could be forced to share single-user files FM 7 server apparantly cannot.

Anyway, opening the files in PM Pro with the scriptstep Set Multi-User (On) and then returning them to FM server solved the problem.

Thanks for all the replies.

Ok, I can't find this files are visible thing.

I can see the sample file when I click on the name in Host and open it.

I can also type in the IP and filename of my test file in the network path and open it, I just can't see it in the list.

Thanks for any help.
