OPC Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 How can I tell FrameMaker to 'group' a sub-summary instead of breaking it accross two pages... it give me the heading at the bottom of one page with a few entries and then the rest on the next page... I want some logic to tell it if you cannot fit all the of the sub summary on the current page, move to the next page and print it there and continue... I have looked at all the breaking options in the part and nothing actually does this... surely other people need this function too! Is there a plugin that can add functionality to FileMaker that could do it? desperate!

aaa Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 In this case i did it such as: I created two print layouts one fore 22 record, second for 25 records, and when records count more than 25 i go to first layot, else to second, but i want to say, that my print pages dont more than 2 pages. May be this technique helps you?

Zadkin Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 I needed a summary at the end of each page. I found nothing better than giving each record a page number and grouping by page number. In your case, I would go the long way: Count the number of lines of each group to calculate the position of the summary and print out the report peace by peace. Ex: Print A B (not C as it is on 2 pages, then C D E (not F as ...), ... I would probably use in this case a specific Group table to set the calculations and steer the reporting. Solution 2: use a specific page field and give each record its page, as a second summary field. In v6 there is probably the possibility to put a page break on a summary.
