Can anyone tell me a source for free databases that people have populated are are allowing free access / downloads? It seems that there is probably thousands of "common information" databases that other could utilize if they could find them.

I don't remember seeing any specific site with databases, but I've occasionally found flat text files of useful information on the internet. Even though they aren't specifically database format files, they are easily importable into Filemaker or other database applications.

There's tons of U.S. Census data on the census website. Like Bob said, it just needs to be converted.
