Adam Cohen Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I need to create a fairly complex database system with a variety of related tables, and am having some issues with the main contact management part of the database. Here
dkemme Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 On the top of the layout, have the first relationship in a portal and everytime a contact name is clicked upon a global in CompanyInfo is set the the Contact ID. Then created a third relationship of CompanyInfo to Contact Note by this new global. On the second half of the layout, place a portal of this new relationship and you should have a list of the contact notes for the ContactInfoID selected.
Søren Dyhr Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I want to have a window open that is essentially divided into a top and bottom half. The top half contains the information for a company (company name, address, phone, vendor ID, etc), as well as a portal to a contacts table that contains individual records for people at that company. I wonder if such a massive realestate demanding approach, not could be better done by a simple GTRR in a new window. It's much simpler than transporting an entire index (could be 10000 records index) over the network due to setting of the global dkemme suggests??? But if you're going to IWP is such a solution not workable?? --sd
Adam Cohen Posted April 12, 2005 Author Posted April 12, 2005 Sorry, I'm not familiar with what your acronyms mean ("GTRR" & "IWP", specifically), so I'm not sure I can answer your question. The screen real estate isn't a big deal, though I think you're speaking about network traffic rather than screen real estate, right? Please educate me re the acronyms, and maybe I can accomplish this goal a different way once I understand what you're suggesting. Thanks! Adam
