Using Act/Word Templates with FM

Featured Replies

Hi Forum!

I have no idea where this should go. I've searched and have hit deadends on every thread. crazy.gif

I have a series of letter templates with an extension of ADT. They are Word documents (at least their extension is set to open with Word) but they are from Act. They contain merge fields as [[Contact:26]] which were Act fields (which I'm pleased to say is no more).

I'm more familiar with WordPro/AmiPro and WordPerfect. But Word should be able to use FM's merge fields here, right? How do I transition them over? And once transitioned, how do I choose which table occurence and record should fill the Letter merge fields? How do I call it? Can I automate and print from within FM or does Word have to do it (yuk)? I want FM to control it all - just USE the templates (maybe pop open the final document and allow modification; allow User to save as .doc (?), print & close).

Or should I just convert all 86 of them manually? If it's something pretty easy to put into place now it would be worth it. I could re-create them all in FM in another few months after some higher-priory projects are finished. Can you just get me pointed in the right direction? wink.gif
