Database Convertion from FM6 to FM7

Featured Replies

Hello,

Could you please give me a method to convert databases of FM6 to FM7,

then integrate them into one database(the databases of FM6 become Tables of the database)?

Thanks a lot!

It's typically easy enough just to convert the files to V7. There is no way to easily "combine" all of these files to one. If that's what you truely want to do, it would probably be easier to re-write the program in 7, because that's about what you would have to do. There is nothing 'wrong' with having a multi-file solution in V7, just that it isn't taking advantage of the multiple tables per file feature.

Thank you BrentHedden! but as I know in FM 7 if we use multifile, it runs very slow.

So I want to combine them into one database.

Ok, that's understandable. There is no automated way of doing this, but there is a program available that'll certainly help you out. Check out this website -

It's called FMRobot made by New Millenium. I haven't used this software, but my understanding is that it'll move whole tables from one file to another. Certainly this would aid you in what you wanted.
