Making Tickets (must be simple)

Trying to make tickets for an event at school. The tickets would have a graphic in the background and a sequential ordering of numbers as the ticket number. That's it. I would like to be able to print about nine per page (letter sized). I simply cannot make it work. Here is (some) of what I have tried.

Have (now) four different layouts on which I have tried this.

One has a container field with the background image and a number field (auto-entered serial #'s); this appears to work as I create new records, but under preview (set to print in 3 columns) background image only shows on record #1; the rest of the positions are numbered and positioned correctly, but there is no image.

Other variations exist, but I can't make any work as I need them to.

Any idea how to set up a simple ticket layout?

Welcome to the Forums.

There are a number of ways to do this, and the key is in making the graphic a global. I've done a demo for you, which each time you click "new record" creates a row of three. It is Layout #5 in the enclosed file.

Thanks, Stanley and Comment.

I can't tell you how frustrating it is to know the idea WILL work, but not be able to get the idea TO work. I appreciate each of you making the effort to help.

Stanley, my first two attempts to download the attachment did not work. I get only this:

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '' (ASCII=30) state=1 in /home/fmforums/public_html/files/157593-Tickets.fp7.sitx on line 477

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/fmforums/public_html/files/157593-Tickets.fp7.sitx on line 477

Isn't that strange. I get the same message.

I use something that I think may be easier.

I create a layout specifically for printing using the 'Labels' option. Then customize the sizes of the header, BODY, footer, and ROWS TO PRINT to create a single 'ticket' area on ONE PAGE. Make sure you've done 'Page Setup' first to give you margins.

So you only work in a ONE TICKET layout area, just like an address label. So now your graphic only exists as the background of this area in the layout.

This makes it stunningly simple but very flexible.

Now you can duplicate this layout and use it as a 'List View' to see what is going to print for each record.
