relative display of rows in a portal

Not sure if I'm describing this well but here goes. I would like my portal to adjust in length (number of rows) dependent on the number of entries that are displayed in it (in other words, hide the unused rows when not filled out). Is this possible?

Thanks!

Hi Ginna, and Welcome to the Forum.

Sorry, Portals Can't do that. The number of portal rows are selected at the Layout level. You can make it smaller with scroll bars, but it will not increase or decrease in size as you desire. This is actually a feature. If it acted as you wished, the portal row could expand right off of the page, or cover other data on the page. This is one of the reason, that it is recommend to print the data shown in a portal directly from the file where the data is maintained, and not from the Portals.

Lee is correct. You can, however, make the portal invisible by setting borders and fill to transparent. It will still occupy the same real estate on the layout, but will appear to shrink when some of the rows are empty.
