May 11, 200520 yr I have a portal displaying Print Specs related to Fulfillment Specs. I can successfully create a new record using a button in the portal with script parameters. What I really would like to do is have a checkbox in the portal. And one button that would create new records based on my checked selections. Not sure if I was clear enough in my explaination, but I would greatly appreciate being led in the right direction. Cath
May 12, 200520 yr My second upload for you have apparently failed to make sence??? In a normalized structure is the need to make copies of records holding exactly same information considered redundant, a waste of storing space and an issue liable to cause iffy syncronizations!!! I've given the second update the desired change so you can have: checkbox in the portal The need for making new records is NON existing, due to the relational structure! However is there in my template a script on each checkbox just to reshen the layout, since I have both layouts in one ...where you hardly would need it at all, if you flip to another layout when printing the invoiced ...since filemaker freshens it's layouts when flipping to new layouts or clicking outside fields. --sd cathyka4.zip
May 12, 200520 yr Author Obviously I am not getting something very important. Honestly understanding HOW to link related information has been my biggest challenge. Your files have helped but I am going to spend the weekend sinking my teeth into evertything. Hopefully I will have an ah ha moment. I completely understand what you are showing me. My challenge is deciding what my "main" table will be. I am thinking everything revolves around people. So that just may be where I start.
May 16, 200520 yr Author Ok. I am totally lost. I think that maybe I am in way over my head. But now I just want to get it done. I have attached a pdf of my thinking. Could you maybe help me figure out my best course of action.... please..... help.pdf
May 19, 200520 yr Sorry for keeping you in suspence, alright I've look at your .pdf - so what you want - is probably very close to this old template, that in order to move sets uses import between tabels, as a kind of group lookup. I would say it's the simplest workaround recursive filestructures, if you level the stock from ordered items turned invoice lines as I suggested in my templates. http://www.dwdataconcepts.com/dl/tm/Compile_INV2.sit ...bear in mind that you need FMRobot to gather indiviual files in one - or remake it in one file by hand!!! --sd
May 19, 200520 yr Author Thank You! I took a quick look at the old template and I think it may just be the insight I needed. I will let you know. (And truly, thank you, for you help) cka
