Repeating fields, but without repeating information?

HELP!!

I am designing a meal planner for myself and friends. I have designed a basic layout for Food, Calories, Protein, Carbs, etc. but I don't want to define a field for each occurence of these trhoughout the day. In other words, there could be as many as 100 for each Food, Calories, etc. if I were to do so and I would like to group things into meals 1-6 for each day with puling values from a relational list I have desgined. Is a portal my solution or is there another type of function I should use? I want to repeat the fields, but not the information

You should definately use a relationship via a portal. Now this might be a relationship into the same database, depending upon the nature of your data. DO NOT USE repeating fields.

Thanks for the advice, but here's the current problem with the revise relational portals - I've created a relaionship, but I get the same values in all 10 portals I've created and the related calculations of calories, protein, etc. are all 0 (zero) except the first one. I have the book, "Using FileMaker Pro" by Coulombre & Price, but I don't see the solution in there. Any suggestions?

When all values in the portal are the same, it usually means that you haven't put a related field into the portal, or the relationship for the field is different to the one used for the portal.
