Hi,

I am new to server and have a question similar to xochi's post about global containers. I noticed that if I close the file and then add the global container, everything works fine. My question is I am usually a remote user. I access the database from a different state. I can administer the server, but I do not have access to the hard copy of the hosted file on the server computer. Is there a way to add a global container without that access?

If you can't get single-user/hosting access to the file, try creating an opening script that sets the global to whatever value you want. Of course, that might require another global container in itself, which brings us back to the original problem.

Best solution is just to get whoever administers the files to grant you temporary access to host the file so that you can make this change (or have him/her make the change himself/herself).
