Hello,

Does anyone know specific differences between these two options? I've switched back and forth a number of times and I don't see any real differences. Also, I have FM Pro 7. My three options for "available menu commands" are: all, editing only, and minimum. Is the "none" option that I've heard about part of FM Pro 7 Developer?

The most restrictive options is called "none" in FMP 6 and earlier. It may have been renamed in FMP 7 but I cannot check right now.

The "Editing only" option includes the formatting commands in the Format menu ,most commands in the Insert menu, and most commands in the Edit menu.

None disables all menus and commands except for Exit and Recover in the File menu.

From the little bit I done with it MINIMUM seems to be the most restrictive. Our users couldn't even cut and paste (CTRL + X and CTRL + V) when set to MINIMUM, which they (correctly) balked at right away. I opened it up to EDITING ONLY and that allowed the regular cut/copy/paste actions but not a lot else. For instance; the users couldn't print anything because the PRINT menu item was greyed out even though I had allowed their privilige set the ability to print.

Users are allowed to perform a Recover? Yikes! Would this recover the host if networked? I don't like the sounds of that, if true. I've read a file should never be used after a Recover!? I know, I'm brimming with questions. grin.gif

I keep my solution locked down tightly and use SecureFM to remove the FM menu bar entirely. I've never read anything about attempting Recover while a file is hosted; hopefully FM would nix it or not even let them find it!? I think this might be important to understand if Users can do this. It isn't the kind of thing I'd want to test on a live setup!

No, Recover only works on un-hosted files -- the Open dialog that appears after issuing the Recover command does not have a Hosts button.
