How do I show all the records where one field content is "x" or "y".

You do an OR find.

Enter find Mode

Put X in the field,

Hit Cmd N (New Record Request)

Put the Y in the field,

hit the Find Key.

Select View->Find Mode

Type x into the field.

Select Requests->Add New Request.

Type y into the field.

Hit return.
