I host a database on an internal network and all my users access the database remotely and interact with it throughout the day. to keep the size of the database down, I insert file references (rather than the files themselves) into container fields from the host computer. When accessing the database remotely, however, when i try to download the file in the container field, it says that it cannot find the file. any idea how i might fix this?

The path to the reference must be same from your remote location as from inside your lan. Which may be hard or even insecure to pull off...
