Using a thermal pos printer with fm7

Featured Replies

I am looking at using a Star or Epson pos (point-of-sale) thermal recipt printer with fm7 for my shop. Can I assume that as long as I install the Win Xp drivers for the printer and set up a layout , I should be able to print a recipt out (in other words treat it like any normal printer) . I ask this because when I look at the specs for these sort of printers they list print formats that I don't understand/recognise.

Is anyone using this type of printer with Filemaker?

Thanks

If you can print to a printer in Windows, you should be able to print to it from FileMaker. You will have to adjust the print setup and layout to fit the printer.

Robert:

FileMaker will print to any printer you have the drivers for. Once you've installed the drivers you may have access to specific layouts (akin to what you get with label printers), but even if you don't it's fairly simple once you get into it.

thanks, thats good to know. I've just ordered a Star TSP600 usb thermal printer that should do the job.

Robert:

It would be greatly appreciated if you could post up your experiences with the Star TSP600 once you've run it through its paces, for the future reference of all. Thanks.
