Robert Collins Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 I am looking at using a Star or Epson pos (point-of-sale) thermal recipt printer with fm7 for my shop. Can I assume that as long as I install the Win Xp drivers for the printer and set up a layout , I should be able to print a recipt out (in other words treat it like any normal printer) . I ask this because when I look at the specs for these sort of printers they list print formats that I don't understand/recognise. Is anyone using this type of printer with Filemaker? Thanks
DykstrL Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 If you can print to a printer in Windows, you should be able to print to it from FileMaker. You will have to adjust the print setup and layout to fit the printer.
stanley Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Robert: FileMaker will print to any printer you have the drivers for. Once you've installed the drivers you may have access to specific layouts (akin to what you get with label printers), but even if you don't it's fairly simple once you get into it. -Stanley
Robert Collins Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 thanks, thats good to know. I've just ordered a Star TSP600 usb thermal printer that should do the job.
stanley Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Robert: It would be greatly appreciated if you could post up your experiences with the Star TSP600 once you've run it through its paces, for the future reference of all. Thanks. -Stanley
