Coloring a field within a Portal

Featured Replies

I'm building an office appoinment scheduler. If a slot (a field) is open (empty) I want the background green and if closed I want the background red. I have the container calculation field which holds the color behind the time slot field. The color changes fine based on if the field is empty or not. However, when any field is clicked into, the color changes to white. This only happens when the fields are in a portal. Any way to remedy this?

Thanks,

When a field is entered (and it is set to transparent so your highlight shows), there are only a few options: 1) Display your portal background or 2) Display your layout background.

Change how field responds to either background via Layouts > click or unclick 'Show Field Frames.' Unclick and your field will pick up portal background (your white). Click it and your field will pick up your layout color.

You can make it appear 'planned' by making the highlight larger than the field (8 px or so) so it surrounds and highlights it when entered. Of course, if Users are changing it, the field is in transition anyway. User won't know until they exit the field what color it will/should be. I suggest letting your field stand apart from the highlight while User is in it and just decide the color it should be; since I don't think there are other options here. wink.gif
