'FMS 7 Advanced and Tiger latest update

Featured Replies

Hi,

heard of a few people who updated to 10.4.2, after which their Server 7 Advanced was disabled in the sense that they try to either show the databases (fmi/iwp) or the configuration console (fmi/config) in the browser and get 'page not found'.

Has anyone done the update already?

I think I'll wait until I see that FMI confirms it should work ;)

It worked just fine for me......

Had the same problem. I just reinstalled everything and it all works fine now.

It looks like this has to do with user rights. After the update, they are skewed somehow and a rights-repair through the disk util doesn't always solve it.

A new installation solved it for the afflicted people I heard of.

I've been running FileMaker Server Advanced for about a year with no problems. I started with beta Panther Server 10.3.x and have run thru beta Tiger Server and all upgrades thru current version and I'm now running 10.4.2 current Tiger Server.

All have been basically trouble free ... EVEN thru all version of Mac OS Server beta software ....

My only real problem appeared because I hadn't noticed that my databases load slowly (about 5 minutes) in FMS. Once the file are loaded by the server, everything seems fine. Clients (Mac's & PC's) have no unacceptable behavior.

I'm running G4/1.25GHz/1GB & G5/2GHz/1GB Tiger Server. (I could use more memory)

I'd say that if you are having problems then try reinstalling FMS and upgrading from 7.0 to 7.0.3. It's not that time consuming. An hour maybe for most setups...

Let us know how it goes.

And post specific problems so we can help you.
