Comment helped me out with my recent difficulty in setting up a self related portal filtered by one field. I am puzzling here all day as to how one would filter a portal via two conditional value lists. Have searched all relevant posts I think] here to no avail.

I am conceptually challenged. It must have to do with table occurences and how the relationships are setup, right?

Any help appreciated.

I am conceptually challenged.

So am I - what does "filtering a portal by a value list" mean?

A portal will shows all records that meet the criteria specified in the relationship definition. You can compound several criteria, and only those records that meet ALL of the criteria will be shown.

You can compound several criteria,

Or have a have a multilinekey for a multicriteria relation, such as:

As I [know] I have been rather poor at explaining myself and what I want to achieve, I have spent some time today with a demo set of files, which are attached. I do hope this explains much more. Have spent some time messing around with this problem too, but it is not completely solved.

Help much appreciated.

Hello,

Thank you for your help. The file you put together was indeed of help to me. I finally had an opportunity to sit down and pursue my objective. As a result, I learned a lot more than I knew before. This is a great program.

I do trust that the attached files will illustrate more clearly what I was asking you all how to accomplish.

Thanks again
