August 12, 200520 yr Newbies I set-up a database using 4 container fields that hold icons. Each icon has been formatted using a navigation scripts (go to layout...). Each container holds 1 icon. The containers are designed to be used as navigational tabs and the set of 4 fields apears at the top of each of 4 layouts in the DB. Every day or 2 the data (icons) in all of the container fields is(deleted)simultaneously. This link concept is based on the FM Starter Kit DB "Praesto Jr. This scheme seems to work fine in that solution. Does anyone know of a way to prevent the deletion?
August 12, 200520 yr FileMaker likes to do this kind of stuff every so often, just to keep you on your toes. Just kidding. Have you upgraded to v 7.x3? Are the files being served? Is the field a global Container Field? Can you attach a sample of the files (zipped)? Does this happen after restarting FileMaker. Can you tie this to any particular set of circumstances? HTH Lee
August 12, 200520 yr Author Newbies I looked over your list and noticed that I had not selected the "global" storage option for all of the Containers. I suspect that this was the problem. Thanks for the insight! I would be pleased to send you a copy of the file if you have not already used this technique for creating page links. It's pretty cool. In the past I found cearting links on large numbers of pages very tedious. This is a real time saver. Edited August 12, 200520 yr by Guest
August 12, 200520 yr Attaching a file will sometimes help us help you. If the global setting doesn't work, then that maybe something to try next. HTH Lee
December 26, 200520 yr Newbies I have a Filemaker Pro 8.0v1 database which has a Global container field (2 repetitions) in which I have pasted two coloured rectangles, for use in highlighting a portal row. It seems that about once every day, the images in the container are deleted. If I put them back in again, everything works fine until next day when they have gone again. There are definitely no scripts deleting the data. The database is hosted on a Windows Server, running FM Server 8 (original) and I am copy/pasting into the container from a MacOS X client. Actually as I write this, I notice that another portal that is setup the same way is having the same problem. If you ever got to the bottom of this problem it would be great to know.
December 30, 200520 yr Newbies Many thanks, I'm yet to try it out, but from the sound of it, that's exactly what the problem is.
