Okay, first I know "never use repeating fields” But I could not find another solution to my problem. I have one field for a contact and had previously defined a repeating field to store values, which each contact could have more than one, but no more than three. For example:

Contact field = "John Doe"

Repeating field = "M.track"

"Football"

Now everything worked fine at the start, I even used a portal based on the repeating field to show all records for say "Football" and his name would show as would if I had inputted "M.Track." The problem is when I go to print for a specific group based on a value in the repeating field, the other value is included. I could use separate fields for the repeating value, but the clients wants to be able to use the portal method and be able to see when there is a contact that has more than one value assigned to it. So it would look like, John Doe M.Track, Football, basically not show John Doe twice. Please help!!! Many thanks!

You problem is a too vague to help...

But the fact of the matter is that repeating fields do not mix with portals, thats why you're not supposed to move them. As well, portals are a replacement to repeating fields.

To clear it up, here is my diliema:

I have a field called "sport" with a value list (Baseball, Basketball, etc...)

Then I have a field called "Name calc" that combines first and last name.

The issue is that name calc can have more than one "sport" value assigned to it. Now I could just have more than one sport field (ex. sport1, sport2, etc..) But would there be a way to use a portal that looks at more than one value? if not I will have to rethink the overall design. Hopefully this is clearer now. Thanks!
