Resizing Row Width in Table View

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to resize row widths when looking at data in table view format?

Kristine

You do it just like you do in Excel. Grab the edge of the box and tug.

Lee,

Hi, I was thinking just like you: I thought it would be like Excel. Ummm, temporarily, I'm working with FM Pro 7 on an Windows XP system, while Mac is down. Is this ability to manipulate rows in table view just an Apple capability???

No, I have done this on an XP too.

Try restarting your machine and FileMaker and see if that changes anything.

Hi Lee,

I am at a loss for words. I restarted, then I just created a new layout in table view mode--instead of my normal form view mode--and still can't resize the rows.

Oh well,

Kristine

Zip and Post your file as an attachment.

Let me know if you need help.

When you transfer files back and forth from XP to Mac, it will remove the ability to edit the files.

Click on the Folder and the files and Get Info to see if this has happened.

Here it is, Lee

Wouldn't that be cool if it could be 'dynamically' set with some kind of calculation, rather than having to drag it by hand? For example, set the width to the longest string for that field in the found set.

It's asking me for a password and user

In layout mode, go to Layouts, Layout Setup > Views Tab. Click on Table View Properties and click 'Resizable columns.'

Hi LaRetta,

I think you nailed it. My files default to that being active, so I didn't even think of that.

Lee

Hi Lee,

I believe tables are always created with this default ON (resize active as you've described). But, after you mentioned it, I tried making the default stick to OFF on new files created. No luck. It seems that it must be turned off on a specific table; at least with Windows this appears to be the case. :wink2:

Hi Lee, Hi LaRetta,

Lee, it is password protected, but not at the guest level. :-)

LaRetta, my default ON is set in the view tabs, but I'd like to resize my rows...not my columns. :-) Do you know of a way to do it?

Kristine

I think that you will have to change the size of the text in one of your fields in layout mode.

I didn't try Guest, usually when there is a password, you have limited what a Guest can have access to
