Has FM Developer ever had a trial version to convince users to upgrade from Pro?

The reason for this question is I have never used Developer and with the new features that FM 8 Adv has I am interested in upgrading, but I want to test it out. So do you think Filemaker will release a demo of FM 8 Adv?

I would doubt it. Since they are already shipping 8 Developer (now called Advanced), they would have released it already. I think they feel that you could use its functionality during the trial to enhance the regular version at no cost (like with menus and tooltips).

I'm usually very negative about their sloppiness, but 8 Advanced is great so far.

If you are going to upgrade take advantage of the upgrade path from 7 to 8 Advanced. A bit more expense but well worth it. Once you've used it for a while you will wonder how you managed without it.
