Valuelist is sooooo slow????

Featured Replies

I have a rellationship to show a field in a value list from only some of all records in a table. If I tell the valuelist to show all values (7400) it goes fast, if I show the values from a limited rellationship then it goes dead slow, slow like we can go and take a coffe break wile we wait, and thats is just 3800 values! How can I make this faster??

Plz need help!!

Regards Jocke

Hi Jocke

If I understand you correctly then you are using this value list in a popup list. This is a known 7 issue. It is sorted in 8.

If it is possible you could change the field from a list to a menu using the same value list. This is apparently a lot quicker

Hello and thanx for the fast reply! Its allways nice to have someone to talk FM with ;)

Yes its faster in FM8 BUT the list takes 2-3 seconds to come down and its quite slow to scroll in the list still but type ahead works ok..., is that just they way it is or can I do something about that too? Does every user need to have FM8 if we want it to go that faster with value lists? I guess so...

Thanx again!

I am afraid I have not got 8 so I really don't know the answer to that but if there is a better approach I am sure someone will step in with advice

Best of Luck

Phil

Hi, Jokez! I think that if you by script find and open necessary fields in other window this will work faster. Find works very quickly.
