wowmom Posted December 20, 2000 Posted December 20, 2000 I live in fear of closing my data base. I have two related files. The relationships go both ways. When I try to close the files, without quitting FM 4, I end up in a loop where closing one file launches the other in the background. Eventually I have to quit FM. Yesterday the files became corrupt. I was able to recover, but it wasn't pretty. I suspect that the corruption had something to do with the way I closed the data base. What is the best way to close a related data base?
dspires Posted December 20, 2000 Posted December 20, 2000 Create a script in the 'main' database that closes the others and have it run on closing (check the block and pick the script under preferences/document/)

What is wrong with quitting FMP? You can also control how the files close by running a script which makes sure that the files goto a blank layout (no related fields), and/or hides the window, then issues the close command. However I just quit Filemaker, most of the time. ------------------ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Kurt Knippel Consultant Database Resources mailto:[email protected] http://www.database-resources.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
