Lee Smith Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 What the devil is this "layout assistant" you are referring to? Lee
Newbies joshko Posted November 16, 2005 Author Newbies Posted November 16, 2005 with "layout assistan" i mean the assistant in the layout mod, which we can build different layouts. sorry sir
mr_vodka Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Hi do you mean perhaps the tools on the Status area on the left hand side of the layout?
Lee Smith Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Read the name of the box you are referring to and use it in your post. You could be referring to several tools in Layout Mode. New Layout layout Setup the rolodex Set Layout Order etc. Lee
Newbies joshko Posted November 17, 2005 Author Newbies Posted November 17, 2005 Dear Sirs ! Thank you very much for your help. I think my english is not very well. I mean under the Menue Layout -> New Layout/Report (CTRL+N) FM starts an Assistant. I will now know, is there any possible to open this "Assistant" per script ? I can't find only in script maker only "Enter Browse , Enter and Preview Mode" Thanks (From Austria)
Ender Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I mean under the Menue Layout -> New Layout/Report (CTRL+N) FM starts an Assistant. I will now know, is there any possible to open this "Assistant" per script ? There's no FileMaker script steps to do this. There may be a way to do it through OS level scripting. Generally, it's not advisable to allow end users to create and edit layouts. If they need to choose the fields for a report or edit the text of a letter, there are other ways.
Fenton Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 You can't run a script to do anything with Layout mode. An exception to Ender's advice to disallow access to layouts would be that in FileMaker 7 you can control access to Layout mode on a layout-by-layout basis. So you could add a couple of layouts with access for the user to mess up -) You would want to pre-build the navigation and most of the elements for them.
