Citrix Server

I am just wondering is it possible to add File Maker Pro on my company citrix server?

Thanks

sjw

Sure it is. You'll need a VLA license though (Volume License Agreement) otherwise the 2nd user to open FM will get a license conflict. There are a couple of White Papers on the FMI web site about installing and using FM on Terminal Services and Citrix.

If you rely on the get(userName) function at all, you may want to use a Windows logon script to write the current Windows user to the FM preferences section in the registry before launching FM.

Thanks Wim

i found this white paper at http://filemaker.com/support/whitepapers.html

'Running FileMaker Pro 7 on Citrix MetaFrame XP'

But my company citrix is running on version 3, any guides, comments or advices on this..??

And whats actually the difference between get(username) and get(accountname)??

Thanks in advance

sjw

The Get(UserName) function returns the value that is entered in the User Name field in the pull down menu EDIT | PREFERENCES. This may or may not be the name of the person who is logged in.

The Get(AccountName) function returns the User name of the person who is logged into Windows. For my situation I can rely on Get(AccountName) whereas Get(UserName) is iffy.
