Leather Knight
I can't seem to find out exactly how to seperate the data from the rest so I can do updates without the end user losing any data. Any advice?? :bang:
aaa
Hi, Kevin! It is not clear your question. Can you describe your question more.
Leather Knight
Ok.I have a rather large app. Many forms and tables. When I distribute it to many people and they start using it, data builds up. I make changes like adding forms or tables, I need to update their app. but do not want them to lose the data they have already collected. So lets say the .fm7 I am developing is only 1 file with data, scripts, layouts, reports, and tables. I need to be able to have the data kept in a seperate file from this file. I hope this explains it. Thanks.
aaa
I understand such: You have file, which uses your users. Then in your original you change fm programm, now you want to change this programm for your users. If such: you have two methods for changing: 1. Importing all data from users to new program 2. Hold data in one table, but forms and layouts in other. fm7 can suport it. Sorry if i dont understand you.
Leather Knight
Notice in the image the "TurboXP" is the runtime. The "Turbo-OO-V8.usr" is the file holding everything for the database. I need to make the .usr file hold everything but the data and a seperate file for the data...if possible. My ultimate goal is to be able to make updates to the app without anyone losing any data. Edited January 10, 2006 by Guest
