Apologies if this has been asked before, until recently I had not come across filemaker and then I was approached by a client who uses FileMaker 8 and now wants to allow certain information from the database to be viewable and updateable online as part of their website.

From browsing around the vendor website and other sources I can see quite a bit on viewing information online but can anyone point me in the right direction for information on how to update a FileMaker field from a standard web form.

I plan to use ASP with VB, is this possible?

Also does the entire database need to reside online or can the database remain on-site in my clients office as long as the server is connected to the internet?

I realise there's a lot of points there but any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

You can do it a number of ways; it depends on how much activity, type of activity, and expense.

The FM database can be visible on-line via FM8 Server Advanced. The database could be hosted at one of the FM hosting services. Alternatively, you could have the database "sync" with an online database such as MySQL.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the feed back, I believe the client would be against putting the database online as it will mainly be used by in-office staff.
