Does anyone know if a FileMaker Pro 8 Advanced book will be published? I know there was one for Pro 7. But all I see on the Pro 8 are the regular books, not the "Advanced". I'm getting desperate!

Thanks for your help!

I'm sure there will be books on FM8 (if not already out), but I doubt you'll see Advanced by itself, since much of the material would need to be covered whether for 8 or 8 Advanced.

Like Steve, I too wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a book on Advanced to come out.

I have SPECIAL EDITION - USING FILEMAKER PRO 7 book and have found it to be quite good. I didn't read it from cover to cover but the sections that I did read I was pretty happy with.

You might consider getting a v7 book. I assume the cost will be less and the differences between FileMaker 7 and FileMaker 8 are just evolutionary. FM 8 is FM 7 with more things. The basics remain the same between 7 and 8 so any book written about version 7 will have 90% to 95% of v8 covered by default.

FileMaker 8 Advanced is not much more difficult than plain old FileMaker 8. The Advanced version does some really nice stuff but none of it is particularly difficult.

Whatever you do don't get any book earlier than version 7. The differences between FileMaker 6 and FileMaker 7 are revolutionary and beginners would likely become very confused reading about versions earlier than 7.
