April 19, 200223 yr I would like to be able to do a horizontal split screen between 2 portals. I would like the host record on top, and the portal records down below. But i'd also like to be able to do searches on the top window and leave the window as the same. If you need more clarification, I'll give the example. E-mails are brought into the portal, but unfortunatly the ID (key) number is not always available. The top window would be used for finding that proper ID number, and then i'll bring it over by a script. Bottom is used for browsing only, top is used fo rsearching. HOpe this makes sense. Thanks.
April 19, 200223 yr I don't understand the question, you can put multiple portals on the screen and display whatever you wish in them. You can control the contents of a portal independently of which record you are on by basing the relationship upon a global field you set explicitly. -bd

The parent file on the top 50% and the child in the bottom 50%. But i also want to be able to browse records w/out one changing the other.
April 20, 200223 yr If I understand your question, what you need to do is relate the portal to a global field. That way it won't change as you browse through records.

April 20, 200223 yr Well, if you start with a blank layout, and you draw a line across the middle of it -- you've split the screen! I think you're trying to make this harder than it is. There's no trick to it. Just put the current record's fields in the top half of the screen, and put the portal in the bottom. No?

Let's simplify this, forget the portals for right now. I want file A to appear on the top half of the screen I want file B to appear on the bottom half of the screen. How can i get FM to do that for me automatically with the push of a button (i suppose i could have posted this in script maker, but eventually portals will be involved, but i need to get the split going first) Thanks -j
April 20, 200223 yr Shift F4 will do this in Windows - but I see you're using the Mac icon. I think Command Shift Z does something similar, or takes you back to the previous size.
