Newbies maru Posted February 22, 2006 Newbies Posted February 22, 2006 How do I save a copy of a live Filemaker database into another directory? Thanks _________________________ U Creative: Graphic Design Company and Printing Resources
Lee Smith Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 FileMaker automatically saves the file for you as you work and at close. To save a copy of it of the file, look under the File Option in the Menu at the top, you will see the option of save. When you select this, if I remember v3, You have a few options. For more information on these options, check the file Manual or Online help. Lee
Wim Decorte Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 You can't use "save as" on a live database. Do you want this for backup? If so then check out the backup features on FileMaker Server.
Lee Smith Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Hi Wim, I know that I'm going blind today, but were did you get Server out of this post?
Wim Decorte Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 The word "live", maybe it's my bias but live files are typically on a server, right? As in "going live" which (in my book) implicitely means for a number of users... If it was just an file opened locally it would probably have been described as "open file"...
Lee Smith Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 You are probably correct. I just read that to be opened versa closed. New glasses will be here in a week though. Lee
