D.M. Wrider Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I see a lot of posts around here about FileMaker Server... We're considering sharing files, using one computer as the host, etc. etc. What's the difference between this, (using FileMaker 8 Advanced) and FileMaker Server?
Ender Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 FileMaker 8 Advanced has additional development tools, but does not improve its hosting ability. You can use FM8 or FM8 Advanced to host up to 5 clients. For more than that, or to take advantage of speed improvements and automated backups, use FM Server 8. Get FM Server 8 Advanced if you need to do web hosting for more than 5 clients in a 12 hour period.
Wim Decorte Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Live backups (without having to kick off users) is probably the single most import aspect of FMS.
