Sliding in Portals

Featured Replies

I'm trying to slide my data in my portal for printing. It isn't refelcting in my preview. Can this be done in a portal?

Hi Jana

I don't think that you can do what you want with a portal. They are not particularly print friendly as their intended use was for viewing related data on screen rather than as an element in a print layout

In other words, set up your report to be printed in the Table or File where the data resides.

Portals do slide, and they can be printed (though they are not, as Inky Phill says, very print friendly). Make sure that all objects are set to slide, and that [x] Reduce enclosing part is checked. Sliding is sometimes a bit of a black art. What portals can't do worth beans is straddle a page break. The lines will likely be cut in half, with text sliced horizontally. So they only print decently for 1-page layouts.

It is usually not much trouble to switch to the line items table and print from there. This doesn't really help however if you're trying to print two or more portals using different relationships, which only really work from the master record. In that case an import to a temporary "reports" table of all the data will likely work (but is kind of a pain).
