I know there is nothing holding me back from adding more than one portal on a layout. However the database that I am working with is using one record for each layout.

I am not sure I am even asking the right question, but how do I get the two(or more) portals on the same layout use the same data from 1 record?

I can post screen grabs if needed.

I am working on the interface portion of this project while another person is working on the backend functions. To make the project much easier to use I'd like to have multiple portals on the layout, while the backend developer is have issues with this. Any thoughts?

Duplicate the first portal ?

Ok so here is a picture because I don't think I'm making myself clear.

As you can see it's very simple to copy or duplicate the portal, however they end up displaying the same data. I need help figuring out how to be able to add different info into each of these seperate portals but still have all the info contained in both of these portals using one record.

I have several layouts that need multiple portals such as this. For example, would it be a matter of using more than 1 sku field? such as item_sku1 and item_sku2? I'm really at a loss.

OK

I am afraid that I still don't quite follow what you want.

Can you explain what is shown in the first portal and what it is that you would like to show in the second portal.

At the same time couldn't you display all of the related fields from the one record in the one portal and achieve much the same result.

It might help if I knew why you need 2 portals

(forgive me but I could not follow the last paragraph of your first post)

From your description it sounds like you need a separate table or the second portal needs to display different fields. Like Inky Phil said, we need more info.

To create a portal you need to establish a relationship between the source field and the receiver field, right? I am assuming you've already done this.

To display the second portal create a second relationship to the same field. When you select Insert Portal and are promted with "Show Records From", select the second relationship.

Hope this helps.
