garrys Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Hi all, I have installed FMP Server 7.0 on a Win2K Server but FileMaker Server Helper service won't start and return this error: "Could not start the FileMaker Server Helper service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." Any clue? Thanks in advance, Garry
Wim Decorte Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Are you running SP4 on that machine? What are the machine specs? Typically you'd get the error if the machine does not have the correct service pack or the machine is too slow (below minimum requirement).
garrys Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 Great! I upgraded the RAM from 128MB to 256MB and FM service now started. Thanks a lot for your help. Garry
Wim Decorte Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 256MB will not be enough to do any serious FM hosting. Go with at least 512MB, more than that depending on the your desired cache size, the # of clients and files.
