agtjazz Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Let me start with--I am not sure that this is the correct spot for this question, but it didn't really fit anywhere else....... I am looking for a way to export the data dictionary out of Filemaker. Currently I am documenting all the fields, their limitations etc in excel manually. Any alternatives would seriously enhance my life since I am inputting comments and everything in Filemaker and then again in excel. Thanks in advance! Have a bright day!
cjaeger Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 filemaker pro advanced /developer does this in XML. Or use applecript and a combination of some aux fields to retrieve field properties ...
bruceR Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Also note that while viewing define fields, you can select all and print. In OSX you can choose the Preview optioin to save as PDF. But what is the purpose of what you are trying to do? You can probably do almost all of it directly in FileMaker.
agtjazz Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 I am trying to compare the current database fields with the new (one that I am developing) db fields. Thanks... I didn't even see the print button before.
