Dino Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 We have just upgraded from FMServer 7 to FMServer 8. All the files will open except for the two biggest files. In the Admin screen, when I right click on the file and select 'open', the status turns quickly to 'checking' and then back to 'Closed'. I am able to open the file locally with FMPro Developer no problem, it is just that they won't 'open' under FMServer 8v3. If anyone has experienced this, please help.
Ender Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Check the event.log file, there's usually some explaination in there.
IdealData Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Make sure that files have networking switched on. You can only do this from a local operation. See Sharing > Fielmaker network
Newbies EDUSC Posted May 24, 2006 Newbies Posted May 24, 2006 I am having the same exact problem. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I tried to recover them as well as restarting the server. Frustrated in Columbia.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 The file has probably failed its consistency check. Open it in FMP, then saved a copy as a compressed copy. Then try opening the newly saved compressed copy and see what that does. Steven
Chuy Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 I had the exact same problem. Sure enough, when I compressed the files that would not open on Server 8, they opened. Now, however, my finds don't work in some of the fields of those files. Also, the same fields do not display previously entered values even though the box is checked. Any thoughts?
Inky Phil Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 You might try reindexing those fields that you are having trouble with Phil
Chuy Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Thanks a million Phil and Steven. Everything works just great now!
