Newbies Leah Tofte-Dorr Posted May 23, 2006 Newbies Share Posted May 23, 2006 I am trying to figure out why the second name in a hyphenated last name does not show up in a find. For example, Tofte-Dorr does not show up in a find for Dorr. Is there a way that I could modify the find to include the hyphenated ones? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. mz123
Hey! If you put an asterick (*) before the search criteria (it might help to put one after, too... but i'm not 100% sure) you are looking for, you should get that name as a result. Hope that helps :
Ender
Yes, use the asterisk. Note that in FM7/8 this is not required as a hyphen is a valid separator.
comment
The down-side of this is that *dorr will also find matadorr, torreadorr and Isidorr. Another option is to search in a calculation field where hyphens are substituted with spaces.
Newbies Leah Tofte-Dorr Posted May 23, 2006 Author Newbies Share Posted May 23, 2006 Thanks so much for your quick responses. For now the * works and I will try the calculation field to separate the names. Thanks again.
