How can I stop transparent portals from flashing?

I have a transparent portal that I have overlaid over a photographic background image. Whenever I switch between records the entire portal momentarily flashes white. If I fill the portal with a color the flashing goes away but it totally ruins the appearance of my design.

Are there any tricks for eliminating this flashing problem?

I got it resolved by creating a script and inserted a freeze command before going to the next record.

Brilliant!!

I struggled more than 10 years with this problem, taking it for granted that flashing was inevitable.
